The EG25XR-PRO is a high-performance head & lens tracking system that serves as a crucial component of XR systems. This virtual system consists of a video tripod, encoded head, XR data processing device, zoom/focus lens encoders, and DC power cable, and is specifically designed to collect precise data on the pan and tilt angles of the head, as well as the zoom and focus of the lens. Real-time virtual data is transmitted to the XR data processing device and can output tracking data via the FREE-D Protocol using either an RS422 or RJ45 interface.
Encoded Tripod Head
The GH25XR Fluid Head features integrated encoders that accurately track and relay the pan and tilt positions in real-time. Data from the encoders is output through an 8-pin locking cable. The tripod head supports cameras up to 61.7 pounds and offers adjustable counterbalance, pan, and tilt drag settings.
Data Box
The XR Data Processing Device captures data from the lens focus/zoom encoders and tripod pan/tilt encoders and outputs the encoded data to the Free-D protocol via RJ45 UDP or RS-422 serial data. Free-D is a widely adopted protocol used in virtual production to convey real-world camera movement and positioning data to digital environments. Once the Free-D data is output to the Free-D protocol, it can be received by any Virtual Production software such as Brainstorm, Vizrt, Avid (Orad), Unreal Engine, Ross Video, Qimera, and more. The indicator lights display status for data reception, genlock connection, and Free-D protocol output.
Tripod Legs
The Heavy Duty Tripod, equipped with a leveling 100mm base, has a 220lbs capacity and is constructed from 12X layer carbon fiber. It features a flip-clamping system with safety locks and can accommodate professional DSLRs, telephoto lenses, and camcorders. The height range is 30” to 60”.
Lens Encoders
The encoders connect to the focus and zoom rings of a broadcast lens, capturing the data and encoding it to the Free-D protocol. The included lens encoders are compatible with the vast majority of broadcast lenses and include 0.6, 0.5, and 0.8 pitch gears that mount directly to the lens or to a 15mm rod. With a high resolution of 65,536 count/revolution, the magnetic sensors are able to pick up the most subtle lens adjustments.
DISCLAIMER: This product requires additional system equipment (sold separately, see list below) and extensive configuration between your camera, lens, data box and virtual production workstation.
System Equipment Requirements (sold separately):
- A dedicated virtual production workstation computer with Free-D compatible software (e.g., Brainstorm InfinitySet), equipped with 3G-SDI I/O video card with Genlock support
- Sync generator
- Video camera with Genlock input and 3G-SDI
- Zoom lens (needed for the included zoom encoder)
- 100mm Tripod with a minimum payload capacity to support the encoded head and camera
- A network switch is required if using LAN output for sending Free-D data
- A custom RS422 cable is required if using RS422 output for sending Free-D data
Make sure to check the recommended specs of your virtual production workstation as if may greatly affect the performance of the XR Tripod.
