HOUSTON, Texas, (Apr. 8, 2015) – At the 2015 NAB Show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 13-16, Ikan International Corp will display five new lighting products for motion picture and broadcast production. With help from a full complement of knowledgeable Ikan staffers, NAB attendees have the opportunity to get ‘up-close and hands-on’ with all the products. The Ikan booth is located in the Central Hall, number C6537.
Each year since the introduction of its first on-camera light in 2008, Ikan has presented a carefully curated collection of lighting products for users who want to purchase high-quality lights at affordable prices rather than rent. In line with its mission to provide production solutions for film/video makers at all levels, Lighting Product Manager Barry Garcia points out that Ikan lights are utilized in news gathering, documentaries, narrative projects, corporate videos, commercials and new media. “Our intention is to meet the needs of as many users as we can,” says Garcia.
Spotlighted in the 2015 showcase will be Ikan’s Piatto Lights, Red Star Fresnels, LED Ring Light, MicroLights, and the MK350N-PLUS Spectrometer.
With 5600K edge-lit LED technology, Ikan’s Piatto lights eliminate microshadows and deliver a soft, even light – great for beauty shots, close-ups or any shot requiring an accent light. Piattos are housed in an ultra-slim aluminum casing just over an inch thick and come in four sizes and two shapes (round and rectangular).
Red Star Fresnels are designed like Ikan’s popular White Star Fresnels, but instead of a 5600K Daylight color temperature, the Red Stars shine at 3200K Tungsten. The four or six-inch lens has spot-to-flood focusing and comes in 100, 200 and 350 watts. These features combine with a heavy-duty, but lightweight aluminum housing to make the Red Stars ideal for small, contained scenes or an expansive stage.
Ikan’s new Ring Light contains 340 daylight-balanced LEDs set in an 8.5-inch diameter circle with a 5-inch center and mounts to any 15 mm or 19 mm rod system, allowing for use of camera lenses up to 130 mm. The 30-degree LED lenses give the Ring Light a brighter, more focused beam for close-ups. The On-board dimming, sturdy construction, and the inclusion of a magnetic diffuser, batteries and dual charger make this light a must-have for shooters on the go.
Everyone can use an Ikan MicroLight – the perfect tool for quick shots and tight spots. Lightweight and compact enough to fit in a pocket or the palm of your hand, both the MicroSpot and MicroFlood emit an intense 5600K beam, have a shoe mount for easy attachment to any camera, dimming capability to 10%, and an internal lithium battery that can be recharged with a micro-USB cable. The MicroSpot beams a 40-degree spot, and the MicroFlood produces a wide, 120-degree flood.
Also making its debut is the MK350N-PLUS Spectrometer from UPRtek, an essential digital tool for LED lighting used in today’s film, video and still production. In addition to the traditional CRI (Color Rendering Index), the MK350N-Plus utilizes the updated CQS (Color Quality Scale) and TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index) for the most accurate color measurements.
