Setup Note for Roland V-440HD

If you’re using the Roland V-440HD, here are two quick things to know that will get you up and running in seconds:

1. Connect to the TALLY HD port. The V-440HD has two tally connectors — TALLY HD and TALLY SD — because it’s a multi-format switcher. Plug the included cable into TALLY HD for HD/RGB sources (the common setup). Use TALLY SD only if you’re switching standard-definition video.

2. Enable bi-color tally in the V-440HD menu. By default, the V-440HD may be set to program-only tally. To unlock both program (red) and preview (green) tally signals, navigate to System > 12. Tally Signal in the V-440HD menu and select Type 4, Type 5, or Type 6. Any of these three options will send full bi-color tally to your ikan tally lights.

Once those two things are set, the V-440HD behaves the same as every other Roland switcher in the compatibility list — change cameras on the switcher and the matching tally light lights up instantly.
